i need help please

can anyone help me im new at this
i want to back up my dvds i have a sony +r-r writer and nero5.5 and when i try to back my dvd up it says dvd protected by copyright code cant copy it can someone please help im pulling my hair out at this

You can just copy a dvd movie with Nero. They have protections on them. The easiest way to copy a dvd movie is with dvdxcopy. You need Windows XP or 2000 to use it though.

if its a dvd5 then u can do a straight rip with dvd decripter.
ripp all file to an iso or to a VIDEO_TS folder on you HDD.
if its dvd9 well you will have to rencode it using cce or tmpge
tutorials on www.doom9.org

how do i know the difference between a dvd 5 and a dvd 9?

Stick it in your drive and if it is bigger than 4.7 gb the it is dvd9, if not then it is dvd5.

You don't HAVE to re-encode it........ You can just split it to 2 dvd-r's......
