you just gotta reconvert ur divx to a standard mpeg-2 compliant video, then reauthor it.

XmemphistoX said the true, you can only convert a DivX to MPEG2 with some programs, such as TMPG Encoder.

You'll have a loss of quality but the VCD can be read by most of DVD players.

Just a slight adjustment with the link so as to get you to the right place a bit quicker.

http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgencdvd.htm

Schroll down and look under the how to .......dvd using TMPGenc.

I convert a lot of avi, xvid etc movies back to dvd.

First of all i extract the audio from the movie using VIRTUAL DUB
it's freeware and can be found using links from the above link.

If i have to convert the audio i use BESWEET which will change files from wav to mp2 or wav to ac3 or ac3 to mp2 etc.

TMPGenc can handle the audio but it doesn't do as good a job
where as it does a very good job of the video.

From experience if you choose ac3 audio it is often very quite when playing the movie you have to have the tv volume turned well up.

Mp2 is just like normall and is slightly smaller is size.

Then i set up TMPGenc to encode the video into what ever format i want eg, PAL, NTSC which affects the frame rate picture size etc.

You can set the bitrate, usually between 6000 to 8000 depending on how long the movie is.

The higher the bitrate the better the quallity but a higher bitrate means a bigger file and you have of course 4.7 gig to play with.

Just a point about the quallity if your original avi is crap the you will only get crap at the end where as if it's say near dvd quallity
the you will get a very good result.

After encoding the video which can take anything from between 6 to 24 hours depending on the size of the movie and the quallity settings you encode with you need to join (multiplex) the video back with the audio you extracted earlier.

For this i use IFOEDIT again it's freeware and will multiplex the movie file and produce the vob files that are needed.

Next step is to open IFOEDIT again and create an image from the vobs ready for burning .

Once the image has been produced i use DVDDECRYPTER to burn it to dvd with my ao4.

All the programs used are either freeware/shareware or availeable in demo form so you don't have to spend a penny.

There are also step by step tutorials which if you print out will guide you through what to do and how to do it in much greater detail than i have here.

It certainly works and will produce very good results.
