About the size, the unwarpped .exe should be almost equal original .exe + .icd, it's true.
And it's also true that sometimes we gotta manually copy the dplayerx.dll to the root folder of the game in order to unwarp it with unsafedisc. Now, you can put in your backup copy of the game cd (normal copy without cd protection), and run the game with that unwarpped .exe. If it's working, then you can get the unwarpped .exe to replace the original .exe+.icd, but I recommend you just rename the original .exe to .org or .bak... for save reason, such as maybe you wanna update/patch the game in future and you need the original .exe, etc...
