I installed my Messiah 2, but need some help ...

Messiah 2 Pro (from Charlie_PS2)
Pioneer 104 fw 1.31
RecordNow Max full version

All of my CD-R backups work fine.

But my TDK DVD-RW backup of GT3 won't boot. The PS2 goes into browser. It recognizes the disk as a PS2 disk, and displays the "gold disk". But when I hit X to enter, the screen fades out to black as if to load the game, then goes right back into the browser.

I'm assuming this is a laser azimuth issue. Would I be correct ?

Do your DVD originals boot? If they dont either you should recheck you solder points to make sure the are all fully connected and not touching each other.

GT3 original boots ok. Tested it about 7-8 times. It hung at the black screen after the "orbs" 2 times. Strange.

But now the TDK DVD-RW boots fine. Tested it about 5 times. Booted every time.

Burned the same image onto a Princo (white top, no print) DVD-R. Won't read the disk. Makes a clicking noise, like a woodpecker. Does about 5-6 clicks in a row, over and over.

Bad disks ? Bad burn ? Bad firmware ? Bad bad ?

most likely its a media problem
few ps2 read rw reliably
princo make many diff dvd-r some good some crap

I got the Princo's from allmediaoutlet.com.

Alot of people use the same disks on this board, from the same source. I'm hoping this is just a simple adjustment issue.

Anyone else have any ideas ?

The Princo white top w/no priint are not very good....

I have tried them and they will load on my PS2 but are noisy.... The Princo white top w/writing are MUCH better.....
And Ritek, are flawless.....

Try a better disc and that should sort out your problem...

Oh well, at least they were only $.58 each. And I can always use them for movie backups.

Oh, BTW - Which Ritek's ? The silver tops, or white ? Or does it even matter ?

Regardless of whatever the top color is.....

YOU WANT THE ONES THAT HAVE THE VERY DEEP PURPLE WRITING SURFACE.....

Do NOT get the ones with the light purple bottom.....

The ones with the DARK purple bottoms use the same dye as Traxdata.... and they work PERFECTLY.....

They "appear" to be the good ones....

I always buy mine from a specific person on e-bay...That way I KNOW which discs i'm getting before I buy them.....

When you get them, let us know what you think about them...
