Red Alert 2 lock up after applying 1006en update patch?

Hi
Red Alert 2 works fine on my Win2000 Pro machine (after fresh install of game). When I apply the RA21006EN.EXE update patch, the game is very slow to load, and locks up during game play
Thanks for any help. Crus

Sound like a problem for EA / Westwood to solve. Try their forums.

I'm playing the game on my machine at home, not online.
Fresh install is OK. But the 1006en update causes these problems. I'm not using cracks - I own the disks. This problem does not happen on my Windows 98SE machine. works fine with the update and no-cd. Windows 2000 and XP? no way!!

As Special Agent said, it's a problem for Ea and Westwood to solve. Which they probably won't, seeing how old the game is. Have you tried right clicking on the game's shortcut and enabling Windows 95 compatibility ?

Enabling win95 compatibility avail in win2000?? I know it is in XP, but this didn't work either.
Probably as you say - an EA problem. I'll just continue playing with the original setup!
Thanx

It probably won't work in Win2000 either, but here's a tip : You can use the same kind of compatibility options as in XP, you need to install at least Win2000 Service Pack 2 or 3 to enable it. Then you can do more or less the same as in XP (properties/compatibility tab).
