New to burning ps2 backups

I'm not new toburning ingeneral, just PS2. I need to make backups, but have been unsuccessful in all attempts. The games simply won't load. I have also tried to play the backups on the pc using the standard emulators, but this also fails.
I've seen numerous postings and help pages on various websites, but none have been overly helpfl so far. Can anyone help me with this problem?

TIA
wolfie

Fist of all, there are no working emulators for retail ps2 games. What program are you using? What media? Do you have a mod chip installed? What burner are you using?

More info

Didn' think there were any emulators yet. Thanks for clearing that up.

My son says no mod chip, doesn't know what version.

I have CloneCD 4.4.3.1.0, CDRWin 5.02, Easy CD Creator Plat 5.0 and Nero. 12x burner that I use at 4x on the burn.
