My Pal
I just bought a game, what I didnt know though is that this game is in PAL format, and I have a NTSC system/tv. I really want to play this game, is there any way I can play it? A signal converter, a button combination to play in NTSC mode, a patch, anything? The game is Vib Ribbon.
(Notice I said pal to NTSC, NOT ntsc to pal)

Ok, ill try those in the morning, too sleepy atm
From what I heard, nobody so far has been able to successfully patch this thing, well I was able to...... err..........halfway: Ok, I was able to find a .xps file that was able to patch it into NTSC mode (strange how a generic .xps patch file worked, but no executable scanning ntsc<->pal prog did) anyway, however, the vertical positning is off......... I heard that this can be a problem with converting from NTSC to pal, I found a program "gf-yfixpar2.zip" on this site that supposedly fixes that, however there are two problems........ 1. It dosent use the cd image, instead it needs a memrump from soem certain adresses to work, which I have no idea of getting. Is there any way I can extract a memdump from emulators? If so, please explain how. 2. It apparently generates a PAR code to use, not a patch file to actually apply to the image, again, anybody knwo how I can actually apply this to the image after I get the codes? Thanks

Ok, I just read the Idiots guide to NTSC-2-PAL (and vice-versa) patch creation, that was useless to me. I tried PAL4U before and it did nothing but scranble the video output on the game. Like I said, I found a .xps patch that actually DID work, it fixes the screen refresh rates so it workes on a ntsc tv, but the screen is shifted slightly down. How do I fix that? There is a program for it but it asks for a memorydump, is there any way I can get a memorydump from an emulator? Becasue I dont have the Pc-Comms card to link it to my modcart and upload the memdump from there.

Errr, can you supply a link? You have like 20 topics according to search........
Btw, I tried burning a unedited copy I can see what is happening, but the screen is shifted down like 1-3 inches, and white colors soemtimes have a rainbowy-hue. When using a pal->ntsc patch though, it screws up the game even more, the screen flickers and theres junk on the bottom. Starting a game works, choosign how to play mode crashes it while loading. Also, I tried putting this cd into an emu, NO emu I tried could even recognize that it was a psx cd! Even the psx coudlent recognize and oy the backups I made from it as a psx cd! I cam make it boot, but when I try to start a game it thnks that the game cd isnt in the drive, I am forced to choose "use my own cd" mode.

Just tried the bootdisk, makes absolutely no difference.
I tried a mod-protected game (DDR2) - still refused to boot becasue it detected a modded system I tried Vib Ribbon, was STILL running in PLA mode even though I chose NTSC I tried version 2.0 Alpha 5, is there a specific version I should try?

Tried 2.0 and 1.0, and NOTHING!
Setting the Vertical positioning does absolutely nothing, setting the video mode does absolutely nothing, setting the anti modchip/AR settings on/off does absolutely nothing. These import player discs are nothing but coasters.

Ok I tried vib ribbon for you and it doesn't work with 1.0
pal4u moves it up about halfway (weird, i've never seen it do that) is palcrk2.xps the file you used to patch it to be off 1-3 inches (from megagames)? is the game not playable being off that much? i've not had luck with xps patches. has anyone else had successes with converting pal to ntsc? |
