If you buy an official Sony PS2 dvd remote you get a cd with a dvd drive upgrade on it.

It upgrades your dvd driver. The early ps2 versions had problems with alot of dvd movies. This helped fix some of those problems.

ok, I got the upgrade cd with my new dvd remote. However, when I tried to install it every time, It always gives an error. I've got about 3 mb free on my memory card. Do I need a brand new memory card without any game saves so I can install the update?
I'm running a V5 with a Magic 2 chip. TIA Rengoku |

I wouldn't think so. What error are you getting and are you refering to the manual for help?

I went thru the manual for the dvd remote. It doesn't really say much about problems with installation.
Anyway, the progress bar fills to about 1/4 and an error message comes up saying "Installation failed. Terminating..." |

Well, depends..................... If its an official sony or a 'Mad Catz' then it would probably be okay but you can never 100% trust anything that ain't official sony.
If you've got a third party one and your havin trouble putting a dvd driver on it then best thing to do would be to buy or borrow an official one and try it on there. I can't think of anything else it would be........ Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
