enigmah and region 1 dvds??

I have just recently had the enigmah chip fitted to my xbox ( the one that allows region free dvd playback), but it just wont play region1 dvds. Ive tried everything dvdx v1,v2 but nothing works. I was told it might be because i has xbox live installed and that i might need a patch for the chip? can anyone please help?
