Cloning PS2 Games, is it that easy?

Ok im new with all of this so bare with me. I have a V7 PS2. I am looking into purchasing the Magic 3 chip. Is there any downsides to this chip?

Using a DVD-R writer can i just do a DVD to DVD copy/clone and it work? or is there more to it?

I am going to be purchasing a DVD writer within the week. Which is a good one to get for between $200-$300?

Thanks in advance
Dave

I would go for a Messiah 2 in my opinon. As it's a whole lot better and stable than the Magic chips. Any one disagree on this. lol..

Regards to copying DVD games, use either PrimoDVD, RecordNow Max or Nero for straight 1:1 copies. Just create an image of the game and burn it back to DVD-R, no need for patches to remove copyprotection etc.. Details on how to do this are on this forum in one of the Stickys.

I currently own a Pioneer A04 which is great for backing up PS2 games. The A05 is out now which is also very good. However, it does not work with PrimoDVD but you can use RecordNow Max or Nero instead. Also, the Sony DRU -500a is also a good burner which you could go for. I'm not sure of the prices of these writers in the US as i live in the UK.

Yes i saw the cendyne for sale in office max. Which model did you get? Are you saying that the Cendyne is the same as the A05?

HANS_COBBO- Where do i get the Messiah 2? Another thing, you say that i will have to make an image of the DVD then burn it to disc. I will have a DVD ROM and a DVD R, can i just do a direct DVD to DVD copy w/o having to make an image to my hard drive?
Thanks for the help guys!

The Cendyne version is the same as the A05.... I have the actual Pioneer A05....

You can get the Messiah 2 from Charlie_PS2 or Dust2Dust through this forum... They are very TRUSTED and RESPECTED members....
Yes, you can copy on the fly as long as your DVD rom is fast enough.... I do it all the time.... Most people will just copy to the hard drive first, just in case there is any problems, so you don't waste a DVD-R...

I will PM them about getting the Messiah. How much does it cost? I am ready to buy ASAP and i will prob run out tonight to pick up the Cendyne.

Also, how many wires are on the messiah? and is there anywhere online i can find a picture of the wiring so i know what i will be getting involved with? Once again thanks. I love this board.
