v2?? is that a Version 2 ps2. You should get a new ps2 or a new laser. You will most likely have a problem playing backups due to a weak laser.

I have the Apple Chip and the network adapter works fine and all my backups that are online ready games work fine online.

Online Gaming

I was wondering about how good the online gaming with the ps2 is? Do you have lag etc? What kind internet connection are you using? I read that the modem for ps2 supports lan and 56k dialup. All I got where I live is a dial up 56k but when I play online with my computer with Deltaforce etc or any online game my ping is about 125-180 usually. We have decent lines or could be not that many people in a town of 500. Thanks for your time.

i use either cable modem connection or colege OC3 my ping is never above 30 or so. I experience little to no lag at all. madden 2003 slows down a very lil bit but not a bother.

The Network Adapter won't be a problem with the current no-swap mods.

Beware mod-chip detection on the games though. This is currently under research as to what happens when the modchip is switched off.

I've read that your box has it's own unique identification number and they will ban you from connecting to the site in the future if you run modded.
