Just an idea...

In the last days GCW forums have been filled up with many requests and tips on how to copy last safedisc protection with CloneCD; many users found it quite impossible to do that unless they had the proper hardware (correct EFM encoding), requested for SD2; also, the new Clone features the "Amplify Weak sectors" capability that should enable to have SD2 backups also from non-compatible burners....so my question is that if it's possible that CloneCD internally recognizes if someone is using a valid licence key or one obtained from a keygen, thus enabling a real full features or not.
Hope that I've been clear (sometimes my english is not that good).
Tks for your replies.
P.S. I have an original licence key, and it always worked perfect.

Wow, can CloneCD do that? ie. detecting if key is from a keygen? What full features are disabled really? I'm still stuck with shareware one and planning to register sometime but my friend has the keygen and said his works OK?

Ok, let's see.As far as i know CloneCD doesn't detects if a key is from a key gen or not....but i know that key generated by key-gens are not very stable....i say.....the program could work one month, week or forerver..until key license says cloneCd it's outdated and need another key.....in this moment cloneCD will not work properly..but just ire-install or upgrade to a new version with it's key-generator..Normaly....it works......cloneCD changes too much and don't think elby implements that in its code in a long time....
Keep in mind one think....cloneCD uses specific ASPI drivers when writing and you can't uninstall and reinstall without rebooting.
By now key gen works greatly..but don't try to use old version of the program and its key-gen.....it seems cloneCD includes something like safedisc blacklist.....but i'm not sure.
I'm thinking to register but not only CloneCD makes working backups from original CDs.....

well ,
that's what happened to a friend of mine,
he had opened the clone cd program and he gave a keygen that he din't buy from the elaborate bytes site!the prog worked fine for a long time but when he once was in the elaborate bytes site and while he was in there he opened clonecd and just with a magical way somethink happened and clone cd din't recognize anymore his keygen and it keeped telling it was a wrong keygen! well i don't know what hapened but i think that the admins of the site can someway control and check if the code you entered was "legal" or not.
------------------------------------------------hope i helped

Well, it can't check your cd-key just like that, but you need a valid cd-key for the version you are trying to use, because clone-cd usually will start with a banned cd-key, but it will ruin the cd-r when burning something.. Disable the "check for updates" in options.. Then if you have a working key, clonecd can't check your key (unless you install a new version later)

Firstly, CloneCD's new option to "amplify blah blah" will only work for some writers. You'll just have to try it and see.

As long as the Keygen produces the correct key, then clonecd can do nothing about it. How can it? That's the whole point of a keygen. Individual users, entering UNIQUE codes, based upon their name.

The only thing amiss here is that your keygen will only work for a limited number of versions.
The next time CloneCD is updated, you'll need to search around for a new one as the programmer will have adjusted the maths within his encryption routine., and if he's got any sense, he'll make all old codes obsolete. This means that all registered users will get a new code sent, and all old codes will not work with the new versions.

And finally...

1. CloneCD will only be further developed if you buy this great piece of software.
2. Not sure if the mods will like this thread!

if you have an illegal cd-key and it works, and then you upgrade and then it doesn't work it because clonecd found it and blacklisted.

So just buy it...
