if your trying to copy the audio from a copied cd then you will need a mod chip installed first also as far as i know the xbox will not read a cd-r you will have to use a cd-rw. or get some one to install a dvd rom drive in to your xbox which is a major pain in the arse.

this will work for normal audio format however you will still need a mod chip so the xbox can read the cd-rw. don't know if it will work with mp3's but there are several good media players around for the xbox providing you have a chip installed.
i sudgest if you need more help on this matter contact quall999 he is the resident expert on xbox and should be able to help you

Thefungus,
Burn your MP3s to a CD-RW, but make sure your it’s an “audio” not a data CD with MP3s on it. Then just put the CD-RW in your XBox and it should start to play. You don’t need a modchip in your XBox to read a CD-RW.

Really? Mine nor any of my friends XBoxes will read CD-Rs. But I’ve been told there are different DVD drives in some XBoxes that will allow them to read CD-Rs right from Microsoft, but most wont.
