CDcopy utilities required?

Kinda curious;
What's the need for progs like clonecCD? (well, for audio i can see the need, i think)
How come you can't just copy ALL files off the CD and then burn them identically to a blank? I've had to do it a couple times (sometimes cloneCD couldn't read alot of sectors(or was it blocks?) so i had to abort) and it worked fine...

Is there a more technical reason?
I copied the first disc of battlefield like that and the installation ran fine (as opposed to it failing using a clonecd made copy, but i didn't finish the install or try the game with it so...)

P.S. keep in mind I don't hate cloneCD or anything

by doing it like that u may find that the game might not have worked, as it would've looked for the sector pattern that safedisk 2 uses. thus using clonecd (or other such programs) allows the sector pattern to be copied and thus the game will mostly run.

Also, the bad sectors you encountered from sectors ~800-10000 are normal for a Safedisk game. Just enable Fast Error Skip and carry on with the read. If the reading of errors takes too long then download Daemon Tools and use it's Fast Dump feature in collaboration with CCD and it'll get through the errors in a matter of seconds.
Secondly, when your burn the game from the image you create, you need a burner capable of perfect EFM coding (two sheep in the EFM column on the CCD site). If it has two sheep then it should copy it no problems, one sheep and you should enable AWS when burning. No sheep, enable AWS and hope that it works (no guarantees)
When you have done this you should have a 1:1 copy of the game but I suggest you search the forum for 'ATIP' to understand how it works and why it can't be copied. To get around this inperfection, enable 'Hide CD-R Media' in the CCD Tray. Incidentally, the Hide CD-R Media now also incorporates emulation, so even if you didn't manage to create a perfect 1:1, the emualtion may run the game.
