I have been browsing the discussion forums for a couple of hours now looking for the answer to a question and can't seem to find it. I have an HP DVD200E DVD burner, which uses the DVD+r and DVD+rw media. Can anyone say definitively whether or not PS2 games can be backed up on DVD+R and or DVD+RW media? Since I already have the burner and a PS2 I would like to backup some of my games but I don't want to spend the money on a mod chip only to find out that you can't use the +r or +rw media. Any help would be appreciated.

If your ps2 is a v5, v6, or v7 it won't be a problem. If its a v1-v4 sell it and go buy a new v7. v1-v4 rarely play +r/rw.

Thanks plus another question
Thanks. Unfortunately I have a v1-v4, I can buy a new PS2 but I would be more inclined to upgrade my DVD burner to a model that does both DVD-R and DVD+R. If I get a DVD burner that burns DVD-R media, are there any known issues that you know of that I should be aware of if I am using a mod chip on an older PS2? Or are the hassles of an older PS2 not worth dealing with?

You should have no problems modding your ps2 and getting a new burner. Do you use +r for anything else? If not there is really no need to get a burner that does both +r and -r.
