Is this the end of no-cd patches?

For safedisk 2.72.000 and up? I hope not! Alot of games will be having these protections and will be doomed! But anyways, I guess there is no no-cd crack for the sims deluxe yet.

Question

Possibly the end of copying, but why would it be the of NoCD? What is it? Is the whole CD one big copy-guard with that protection or something? Does the games with that protection run completely from the disk?

I'm not overly familiar with the various protections and all that techno-babble that I've read about the protections confuses the heck out of me. But that "the end of NoCD" talk disturbs me.

I don't worry about copying a game, just making it so it doesn't need the CD, because that's annoying. I don't give out my games to anyone, so I really don't see the problem with NoCD fixes.

I'm worrying more about the ever increasing levels of annoyance that the new copy protections bring with them. If we don't complain to the publishers, we're going to get to the stage that each user has to provide a dna sample each time he wants to play, to prove that he's the legal user.

...for today's sub-standard games it's not worth it!

i have been able to bckup safedisc 2.7x and higher protected games, so i c no need to worry, unless more publishers use securerom new and the other non physically copyable protections

Would be nice to see something like a protection that allows you to make 1 back up of the CD and no more for we can all have back ups. But I guess i'm just wishful thinking right now.

I use no CD checks for two reasons:

No CD check.. which lags the game and so me and my wife can play over the network... Yes I got lucky and married a wife that like network gaming to...

Maybe if they would limit the CD checks to once every 30 mins.. I seldom play a game less than 30 mins.. It's usually hours.

Or... make it standard to put two CD's in every box for the ones that are networkable. That won't cost them more than 5 cents more on there side..

or make an option when a network game is started to chose wheather you want a cd check directly to the CD or over the network to the one with the cd. That way you could have several people on different computers in the same house.... They could put the limit at 6..10..ect... and make it only workable in that manner over a home network and not the internet..

CD checks do not stop pirating, it just casues problems for legal owners...

CD Checks are there to make more money for the manufacturer, you use the cd everyday it will need replacing and that fast... It is a money decision period, if you ask me... haha

SA
The official cd check hater.....
