prob with me ps2

i think i have a neo2.2.
it came wiv a dvd region x. the instructions i have to boot my games is to hold reset button till 1-6 appear. then let go region x will come out swap the disks then press start.
i ve been told if this doesn't work then i should do the same but instead of swapping the disk let the region x go back into the machine wait 15 secs press eject put back-up in then wait 30 secs and press start.

my doubts wether it is a region x is due to psx back-ups not loading auto. i have to put an origional in first then swap at the psx logo(for pal and ntsc).

also some ps2 back-ups dont work, shinobi crashes after u select new game and forever kingdoms does not load at all(it makes a reving noise). both are cd-format.

do i have a neo2.2 and does anyone know how i can get my games working????? (i dont think its the back-ups as i hav backed them both up 3 different times.
