network adapter

is there only 1 network adapter out there or are there several different ones? if there are several, which is most recomended? also does the network adapter work with backups?

it works for me with backups
i am using the sony official... network adaptor..

there are a few 3rd party ones but i'd stick to the offical sony one, it has the hook ups for the hard drive if/when FFXI comes out or any other game that requires a hard drive.
