CDR expert, DVDR n00b P.S: ive searched.

I have background on ps2 mod chip instalation and CD backups but im a total n00b with DVDR format. I just bought a Pioneer A05 because most of u guys recomend that brand.
My question is.... What software is best to make 1:1 copies of xbox dvd games? (i hear recordMax)
I asume there are two ways... 1 perfect copy with protection included and 1 copy with erased protection. I am buying an x-ecuter modchip for my xbox and just need some pointers on what to do in order to make good copies.
