knackered xbox

hi all was wandering if anyone could help me im very new to this but good at other things computer related so ive been asked to solve a problem for a friend which is he has a kanckered xbox so i took it to someone i know who chip them basically it gets about halfway into booting the syatem up and dies the guy says its due to a game called splinter cell and its wiped all of the hard disk and the only way to fix it is to replace the files from another xbox is this so and is this possible and if so how if anyone has had to do this any help would be great.

just burn the evox on a cdr or dvdr and replace the existing xboxdash with the on from the cdr or dvdr..i fixed my friends this way...he knackered his xbox with splinter cell to....
