To Tyler

Hi,

I've just recently made a backup of (PAL) Dracken via PrimoDVD. However, the game boots and plays okay but i remember you saying a while back that it's got some sort of protection on the (PAL) version and not the NTSC version of the game, correct me if i'm wrong. Could you give us any info to what it might be, i.e. LibCrypt protection etc..

Thanx

On the basis that this is a forum for everybody to contribute (!):

If this is a DVD game then it has no copy protection.

If it is a CD game, then if it has Libcrypt protection (which can be reported by the program Clonxl), then Primo will not be the right copy program unless you have a patch for it. A copy protected CD game is best copied with CloneCD on a compatible burner (DAO-RAW+96).

No doubt Tyler can be specific about other aspects of the particular game.

Okay, point taken.

I was already aware of DVD games not having copy protection added to them, but i did definitely hear Tyler say something about Draken having some sort of protection.

Regards,

HaNs!

There is a theoretical possibility of protection being implemented through various error management techniques that would not be present on a DVD-R copy. But Libcrypt type protection isn't possible because the block level layout of DVD is not the same as CD.

If Tyler has info on such a method of protection, then I'm sure he'll say.

So, did you try it?

Okay, thanks for the quick reply. With me saying Libcrybt was just a guess, because i thought it might have been something like that, were you progress to a certain part in the game, and then it will hang etc. Also, i didn't know that libcrybt wasn't possible in the layout of a DVD. You learn something everyday. lol.

Anyway, the game works fine so far, if i have any problems i will let you know.
