Charlie ps2 (v7's)

Hia charlie i think you saw my thread regarding some backups not booting on v7's with magic 2 fitted can you confirm if the lazer in the v7's is worse at reading cdr than other models and maybe might need a pot tweek , the reason i ask is i modded a console today (brand new) and it plays dvds and originals ok but when a backup is inserted it spins up to read the disc but then just when you expect to say the playstation logo everything stays black , ive used your fault finder a couple of times which by the way charlie is very good well done m8. But getting back to my problem maybe you might know why this is happening or do you agree it must be the lazer as i tried a couple of chips please reply as soon as you get chance thanks m8y

We are seeing much the same on the odd v7.

Sometimes the Azimuth adjustment does the trick. Always go for that.

Rarely does calibration help so we leave it there.

Often the brand of DVD-R matters; Traxdata always OK when we haven't needed to adjust anything.

Magic 2 has its own tendencies on the odd install - like the noisy SCEx that defeats DVD-R booting.

So have a Traxdata DVD-R handy! I would (Pele said).

No psx1 will not boot either just originals cd & original dvd games & films i would of thought the lazers would be better if anything like you say dust , do you think its just the clones matrix ect and not the true magic 2 or all of them as ive fitted a few magic 2's ture as well and as ive said earlyer they still don't play all titles , i think its a chip best left alone now that magic 3 and messiah 2 are out im sending mine back to supplyer what is this method charlies talking about as i'll give it a bash
cheers
