Buying DVD writer - please help

Hi, Im looking to buy a DVD Writer to mainly "backup" PS2 games along with DVD's. I was hoping I could get a few suggestions on which DVD Writers would work best for this. I have heard the Pioneer A05 would work well, but I would also like some other opinions. Any links would also be of great help. Thanks!

Yes the A05 is very good as well as Pioneer's previous models like the 104, A04, etc. Another good choice is the Sony DRU500A. It is very much like the A05 except it has the option of burning using +r and +rw. If you plan on using these options go with the Sony. If not go with a Pioneer. Hope this helps.

YEP....

The Pioneer A05 (what I have) and the Sony DRU-500A (TylerDurden from the PS2 forum has) are both OUTSTANDING drives.....
You can't go wrong with either of them....

Dvd-r....+r.....+rw

What would my advantage be in buying the Sony over the Pioneer.

Ps2 is my main concern......Do I need +RW +R?

Thanx in advance....and later of course....;-)

There is not many advantages in the sony drive to the pioneer. All the sony drive basically offers that the pioneer doesn't is +R/RW burning. If PS2 is yer main concern u don't require +R/RW. -R/RW has proven to be the best for DVD and PS2 backup. If you wanna spend the extra 100$ for the basically useless +R/RW option and the better look of the drive itself buy the sony lol. But might as well just get the pioneer.

Hi izCube ... what do you think about the TOSHIBA SD-R5002 DVD-R/RW?? it seems that it can read and write PC game (with protection) bettter than the Pioneer...

I m deciding to buy a DVD writer too.. but...

hehe...

Just posted the results of the Pioneer......

It reads and writes (protection) like the Toshiba....

Works 100%.......

So this will make your choice a little harder....
