Lightbulb Best drives for copying?

Looking at building a PC especially for copies, games, ftp, etc. What are the best/most compatible drives I can get for the money? I would assume that I will need both a CDRW and a DVDRW for the cd and dvd based games. Mainly looking for IDE but might go USB or Firewire if its not too much more. Looking at making PSX, PS2, PC mainly. Thanks for the info in advance.

For dvd i'd go for the new pioneer ao5.(IDE).

The software and tutorial to use with the drive is available here.

http://www.psxcopyworld.co.uk.

Look under downloads PRIMO and/or NERO.

Look under TUTORIALS dvd section on how to use them.

For cd-r i'd go for LITE ON but since you will need CLONE CD
to backup your cd based games you can go to ELBY
(just do a search for that name and you'll find it).
which is the
home page for CLONE CD and look under SUPPORTED CD WRITERS to see which is the best one.

The best write mode is RAW-DAO 96.

It will need to support BUFFER UNDERRUN.

Also CORRECT EFM ENCODING.

B.G. (who knows what he's on about and regularly posts here)

is in the US and if he reads this i'm sure he'll put you on to were you can get them from at a good price.

Definately go with the A05 and a 100% CloneCD compatible cd-rw drive... Also, I would highly rec. getting a "FAST" DVD-ROM for reading the PS2 games and DVD movies.... They are very cheap and will save the wear and tear on your new A05.... AND it will allow you to copy on the fly.....(A dvd-rom will also read PS2 games and dvd movies ALOT faster than a dvd writer)

hehe
I buy most of my stuff from ebay.com.... I have a couple of different sellers on ebay that I deal with and TRUST..... You can get some really good prices if you are willing to look....

Let me know exactly what you are looking for and I will contact the sellers I deal with for you, and see what they have....

NOTE: Primo DVD will not recognize the A05.. Even with the PXEngine update... No problem... Use RecordNow Max (should come with your A05) It is almost identical to primo....

I won't admit that because I don't think the A05 is second best..
(It does everything I want it to do)

I personally have no need for the +R/+RW format....

Everything I have loves the -R/-RW discs....

Although I would like to get a +R and +RW disc from you to test with and see I my stuff will read them also....

Also curious to see if the +R/+RW is as quiet (during reading)... Remember when we were talking and you said how quiet they were.... And I told you that the -RW were also quiet on mine... So I want to test the +R/+RW to see....

Need to burn something like GTA 3... That would probably be a good test....

Well if you make a lot of different backups like I do then the Sony Drive is the best. Maybe we can work something out on the side. Plus DVD+ are everywhere locally.

You can buy DVD+R/RW at local thrift shops. LOL j/k.

But its almost like that.

Also, I still have to do more testing to see if cheaper brands work as well for the ps2.

So like I said so far the Sony Drive is the best all around drive. IMO, that is.
