Unhappy MGS2 won't boot.

I chipped my v5 ps2 with a solderless chip, and I'm unable to play a backup of Metal Gear Solid 2. I'm pretty damn sure the burn is good as I can see all the files on the disc when I put it into my computer. I used primoDVD to burn it and the burner is a Pioneer 104 (A04). I've tried 2 different methods to swap it, but neither work. I tried swapping the disc out as per the instructions that came with the chip, and I also tried changing codes and the swapping while it updated the code list. Any other ideas (besides getting a new chip, unless someone's willing to cut me a deal on installation)

Thanks

Beefcake - Agree with BG. Which media are you using Verbatim seem to play best. Which original game are you using to swap, MGS2 has high TOC (4.3gb?). Original has to be higher TOC than this, i.e. Devil May Cry, or GTA3? Hope you succeed!!

The media I'm using is generic. Sorry bout that. Have to save pennies where I can. Also, the game I'm using to load the game is GTA3. I also tried with the original of MGS2 and it still doesn't work. But like I said previously, if someone can do the soldering and guarantee they won't **** up my system, I'd be more than happy to pay for them to rechip my system with something better.

Oh, and btw, I tried BOTH methods per the boot procedures and I followed the primo DVD instructions to the letter. I'm not a newbie at this forum stuff. I'll check past posts 1st ya know!

I have a couple of games that will only boot using the dave mira
too many codes double swap method along with a no solder modchip/ar2 v2/ pal v5 ps2 console.

Here's the method just in case you don't have it.

1. Insert dongle into slot 2.

2. Load ar2/gs disc.

3. At the main screen press eject in the normal way and replace the ar2/gs disc with an ORIGINAL ps2 dvd disc with a large toc.
Most people use Devil May Cry or the demo version of the same
game.

4. Press eject in the normal way to close the tray.

5. Select CODES from the main screen options.

6. Select Dave Mirra.

7. Press x to choose the cheat.
Every code should be active (ticked).

8. Press start.

9. Select "start game with codes."

10. Press x and you will now get a message saying "too many codes active please remove some".

11. Press and hold the eject button untill the light turns yellow and the tray opens.

12. Quickly swap your original dvd game with your backup copy
and the tray will close (after about 6 seconds).

13. Press x, you will now be taken back to the codes screen.

14.Press start.

15.Select "start game without codes".

16. Press x, the dvd backup should now boot.

Its either the burn or the original you are trying to boot with. i have a v5 with a no solder and mgs2 boots fine using dmc demo as my original. Its burned on a verbatim dvd-r.

NIGHTSTALKER.

For some reason i couldn't get it to boot on my pal v5 with ar2 and the no solder combo using the updating codes method as supplied by yourself and posted in the stickies by B.G.

But it will boot along with all my others using the Dave Mirra method and DMC original for the toc.

I'm pretty sure my media is causing me problems. I've tried all the methods MULTIPLE times with no luck. Think I'll just fork out the dough and buy a new chip with an install. And some new media. If someone could point me in the direction of someone who knows what they're doing as far as chipping a PS2, (here in the states that is) I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks anyway all.

Contact Charlie_PS2 or Dust2Dust and order the Messiah 2 from them.....
Then, ship your PS2 and the chip to Bill @ Freedomlives.com and let him do the install.....
Then sit back and ENJOY.....
