what modchip is best for a version 1 ps2

What modchip is best for a ps2 version 1 and I just got an hp 200i which burns dvd+r/rw will backups work with it.

dvd+r some consoles read some dont normaly newer v7 will read them

i heard few good stories of the v1 laser

write a dvd film to dvdr (needs to be done correctly) if ps2 will play that then it will play a game on dvd+r as well

I wouldnt waste my time modding a v1 with a no swap chip. Sell it and buy a new console (v7). Alot of people with v1 and 2 consoles are disappointed after installing a no swap chip only to find that there laser is worn and it dont boot backups correctly. I know of no one who sells v1 lasers so replacing it is not a option.
