moh spearhead

is anyone else having a problem with install??my spearhead doesn't recognise my original install of moh and therefore wont patch it!!can i bypass the patching process??cheers in advance

Do you mean the installation on your hard disk ? Or does the install ask for the original MOH cd ? I'm going to assume the first one. Have you ever used cracks of any kind ? I assume that the patching process wants an original executable. It could also be that you either haven't updated the original MOH install far enough, OR you updated and the patching program requires the original cd version. Either way, the only advise I can give is to try a complete reinstall, without patching the MOH install and then try to install spearhead. If you already tried this, I'm stumped. Maybe you have two different versions of MOHAA and spearhead ? one american, one uk ? Try to give me as much details as possible and we'll get to the bottom of this. I'd hate you missing out on the extra 3 hours of single player that Spearhead provides

have re installed game from scratch.there is only the one patch available that i know of for moh which is the one that spearhead tries to execute upon install.it just keeps coming back with 'moh not detected on your machine'.it is really bugging me!!p.s i am not a newbie to pc gaming and patching have been at it for 5 years and am currently on my 4th cd burner.it has got me and a few others completely stumped tho.any help appreciated

The installation runs perfect with non installed version of mohaa. When ask for the mohaa dir just enter (or browse) to it (2 times) and your done ...

the patch doesnt ask for a dir with moh in!!

As I asked in my first message : are both games the same language/country ? The only thing I can think of is trying to install a german spearhead over a us version MOH or vice versa. If both your games are the same language, you better complain to the publisher and moan on the offical forums like the rest of their unfortunate customers.

sorry yes they are both uk versions.just another buggy rush release maybe??can never beat hidden and dangerous for the 'buggy' crown

Are you SURE they're both uk versions ? Check the readme for contact adresses in the uk, or the volume label, or SOMETHING that proves they're both uk versions. Or both us versions. If that doesn't help, we'll have to declare this thread beyond hope and clinically dead. Unless someone else wants to bump in and have a go ? Someone with the uk version spearhead that HAS successfully installed it perhaps ? Bah, EA Games and tech support

wish it was as simple as wrong version compatability.but honest i ain't a retard.i will sort it out cos i want to play it.before nolf2 came along it was the best 3rd person to date

Hey, I never had any doubt. Maybe about your ability to distinguish between two language versions but that's all, honest !

Sorry about the language version thingy, but it HAS to be something, and I hate unsolved mysteries

the only thing i can think of is some kind of hardware incompatability but that normally occurs when you get the program loaded not before!!!it is a test to which i am not equal at the moment

Well, I've found a bit of information about this. Apparently the v1.11 patch has a glitch that causes it to only update games with one specific version value in the registry. Legal users have these problems, I don't know if warezers have the same problems, but you can't decide someone is using warez because of this error. I have the word of several people including Wilf Lurcher here, that they're using the original discs with valid keys. So that's why I'm going to give a possible solution here. I'm absolutely against warez but this seems to be a problem with genuine discs too.

Open up regedit. Look for: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Medal of Honor Allied Assault\1.1.12.200". If your version number is not 1.1.12.200 change it to that. The patch should now work. I got this fix on comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.action, try it and tell me if it works.
