Getting/Making a nascar 4 patch

Hey all. I've seen quite a few no-cd patches for nascar 4 v1.1, but I think they're all for win9x, cuz when I run it in win2k it tells me it's not a valid win32 app.

1) has anyone else tried it and run into a similar problem?
2) does anyone know where I could get a working patch?
3) any suggestions on how I can go about patching it myself? I'm a software developer, but I haven't touched assembler since I was in school! Tools etc. I know it uses SecuRom.
