Recordnow with DVD+RW

Ok, I've been burning ps 1 games for years and xbox since the first modd came out. I finally bought a PS2 and the boot disk. I'm using Recordnow and a Ricoh MP5125A DVD+R/RW with DVD+RW disk. I used the tutoria from this forum but still no luck. I can read the ps2 game without using isobuster. So I just copyed all the file on my hdd and tried copying them no luck. What I'm I doing wrong? Will DVD+RW work in ps2?

No need to use isobuster or anything else...

Just build a global image with record now. Then burn the global image. Simple as that...

DVD+RW will work on some PS2's....Usually V5's or higher...

You said you bought a "boot disc"...What is it?

There was no mention of a mod chip, so this may also be the problem.

Also, what game were you trying to backup?

Try burning on a dvd+r, My v5 with magic2 will load a dvd+r but not a dvd+rw. I use a HP 200e dvd+rw burner

"Record Now" will not make a .gi file. You need "Record Now Max" or better to make .gi files.

I have a Sony DRU-500A to burn the game Ratchet and Clank to DVD+RW and it booted up better than any of my dvd-r have ever booted. I couldnt even hear it loading. It played smoothly too. Hell it even played better than the original disc.

I have a v5 ps2.

...is a boot disk you don't need a modchip. I've tried making a gi with recordnow "max" I tried the new atv 2. It made 4 .gi files but only one was valid image I tried that one but still no luck. The games I've tried are ATV 2 and Slugfest. DVD-r works. I have alot of games on my hd how do I make an .iso of them?

Just tried again with HP dvd+rw media (came with drive) along with record now and it wont boot the game (onimusha 2). Dvd+r burned from same file on TDK dvd+r media will load. Will go buy some tdk+rw's and give it a go. Only thing i can guess is media, I'm sure its not the PS2 laser.

That is most likely your problem....

You still have to have a no-solder mod chip for it to work.

No, Warlock was right. It is the media brand. Does anyone how to make an PS2 iso? (Which software?) I use xiso for xbox maybe it will work with ps2 I'll try it anyway. Thankz guys for all your help.. If you guys ever need help with xbox let me know.

A .GI is an ISO. The reason you have so many from one disc is so that the full ISO doesnt exceed the limits of your OS, they get broken up into 2gig pieces. Usually the smallest .GI from the group doesnt have a number next to it. It is used as the a .CUE file basically like CDRWin would use. It contains the instruction of the order of .GI files for that particular game.
