Dancing Stage Party Edition problems

Recently bought 2 copies of Dancing Stage Party Edition and Logix 3 dance mats for PSOne. Both CDs give us the same problem. the basic Game Mode works OK but on selecting Lesson Mode and Training Mode we get a "Now Loading" message that eventually times out. We are new to PSOne, but this problem occurs consistently. Is it looking for a file that's not on the CD? I added a memory card but that doesn't help. Any ideas anyone.

By the way, the 75p/min help line does not even quote the game in the options on the automated switchboard. I find it appalling that the authors of the software don't have a tech support/helpdesk or even an FAQ section on their website, and apparently no way of contacting them other than snail mail. Excellent customer care.

Additional Info

I should say we are running plain vanilla Sony PSOne (United Kingdon) PAL version and official game CD (not a copy).

Thanks digarf - unfortunately it's our first CD (early Christamas present). I did buy Formula One 2001 this morning to make sure the hardware was OK and that's working fine. I'll take the Dance CDs back and get them tested in the shop. Cheers for the prompt response.

Sorry about the spelling djgarf. I'm posting on behalf of my daughter and I'm a senior member - don't wish to mislead. Thanks again.

Called the store today. They confirm that all their Dancing Stage Party Edition disks are corrupt. Offered to exchange my purchases for 2 copies of the Euromix edition. There's gonna be some very unhappy kids this Christmas.

This is a known problem.. ALL DSDP Disks have been released bugged. You can still play the game ons PS2, but not all the modes on the PSone will work...

Thanks Myst. Store has confirmed they have received a new shipment of Euromix edition. We will probably keep one of the Party Editions as the game mode still works OK on PSOne and my daughter prefers some of the tunes.

You would think Sony would ensure the game authors have better quality controls in place as this kind of thing damages the Sony brand - especially for first time customers like us.

This is not Sony's fault.. but the producer Konami, who have seemed to just messed it all up. They released an untested version of the game, and their excuse is that their "Test Playstions" were to blame? No idea...

All I know is now they have been recalled too, and that anyone with a copy, Konami will replace with a working one when they have finished it.

Hope this is more help for you

I fully understand Myst as I work in the software services industry. My point is that the good reputation of a well known brand can become tarnished by the shoddy attitude of a third party organisation.

I hope Sony are aware of this and can put some commercial pressure on Konami - if Konami wants its products to carry the PS logo I would expect that they are obliged to carry out exhaustive testing before authorising a product for release.

I did try the Konami web site as well as the premium rate helpline with no success. Software companies have been getting away with this type of thing for many years and it's time they took more responsibility for their actions and showed a more caring attitude to their customers. If this is a "known" fault it should have been made known to the dealers - it's not as if this is an obscure game - it's one of the best sellers.

Come on Konami, why not post a public response where your customers can see it.

Thats true, it does put a very bad name on the people of Sony. Konami have been very quiet about this problem, for one matter the company I got my game from (Amazon) have yet to email me or contact me to try and get the game back. And they STILL show the item for sale on their website.

As for dispatching them I very much doubt they will till the new version is out.

I did have a list of problems and glitches that were emailed to Konami to try and get a responce off them, unfortunaly my server had a hardware fault and I cant actually get to it at the moment.

If I do find anything else out, I will post here for you.

It is a real shame that something like this can put a bad reputation on such a good company.

I recieved this from Amazon.co.uk today...

Quote:
Dear Amazon.co.uk customer

We have received information from Konami that, due to a manufacturing fault, some of
the game modes in "Dancing
Stage Party Edition" may not work correctly on some PlayStation and PSone consoles.
There are no known problems
with PS2 consoles.

Konami is working to rectify the situation and hope to have new, fixed copies of the
game by mid-December. If you
encounter any problems running your copy of "Dancing Stage Party Edition" on a
PlayStation or PSone, please
return it to us and we will replace it once we receive the new stock.

Konami and Amazon.co.uk would like to apologise for any inconveniences caused.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Warmest regards

The PC and Videogames Team
Amazon.co.uk
