Please Help Me...
I have a problem with my PS2 V4 Pal.
I have a Messiah mod-chip, and this is my problem: Music discs are working , PSX imports are working but PS2 imports and originals are working rarely. It usually take the PS2 few seconds to recognize the PS2 disc and then there is a black screen with white words:"Insert Disc". What should I do ? Thanks. |

Sounds like you need to clean your laser. The dvd support is usualy the first to go because the laser is much more picky.

ok
1. were ps2 imports/originals working before? 2. how long have you had your machine modeed? 3. did a reliable person mod your machine? 4. are you able to take your PS2 back to the installer to get him to re-check the installation?

1. Yes, worked great.
2. 6 months, my PS2 is 1.6 years old 3. NO 4. I gave my Playstation to somebody else the last time that the machine made problems, and I know that the wires are OK. I open the Playstation today and saw that everything is OK. |

Do you have any cd based(blue back) ps2 games? If so, do they work?

Shpitz,
I'm just offering some humble advice here, but speaking from (bad) experience, I think this is a case of your ps 2 being in the wrong mode. I'm not sure, but I think no matter what chip you've installed, you need to switch between ps 1 and ps 2 modes to play the respective formats. Try switching modes, and see it the ps 2 disks will play. I encountered a similar problem when I first bought my ps 2, too, where the ps 1 games would not start, and only the ps 2 ones would load. I later discovered I was just trying to boot the disks in the wrong format mode. Then again, you DID say they actually booted, even if rarely so, which means it could be a completely different problem. No harm trying, though Hope this help!

If your blue back works then you are having a dvd laser problem. A laser cleaner usualy solves this problem. It is simply a disc with brushes on it.

I've already tried the laser cleaner, it didn't do anything. Someone told me that I should clean it with a q-tip and a rubbing alcohol.
Geoduck, I don't think that the mode is the problem but I will try what you said anyway. Maybe your ps1 games didn't worked because you didn't clicked twice on the reset button. I don't get it, why the PS1 and music discs always work and the PS2 discs work sometimes? Last edited by Shpitz; 16-11-2002 at 23:58. |
