Sony Dru500A Help!!!

HI I recently purchased a sony Dru500A which is able to burn both + and - formats. I bought it when I read that PS2 only read the - formats. Well I used memorex dvd- r media and the record now program that came with the drive. when I compared the original and the back up I made on my P.C. they were Identical, but the game will not boot. It just stayed on the insert game disk screen on my GS2 v2.0 . So what am I doing wrong has anyone had success with the sony and if you did what did you do. Also another confusing issue is the movie back ups I have made I use dvd+r media and they play fine in my ps2. so do I need dvd-r only or not? I have a version5 ps2 with the non solder mod chip someone please enlighten me. thanks

Try taking a look at the booting procedures that I posted and check to make sure you are booting DVD backups correctly...

Also... Some V5 and above PS2's will read the +R format... You may be one of the lucky ones whos PS2 will read it...

But the -R is more compatible across a wider range of PS2 versions...

I have been booting it exactly as that says im also useing a game with a much larger T.O.C. than the backup. I have been doing my homework and know what to do once the game is copied. I just think if there is anything wrong its in the burning process. What I need is for someone who has the sony to tell me what program there using, and how there doing it. all the walk throughs that are one the net wont support the DRU500A so know what?

Use the program that comes with your Sony Drive. It should be Stomp Record Now. Just build a GI image of your game and burn to a dvd-r disc.

even though they are practically the same program, I might write a small tutorial on using RecordNow Max (with pictures), could then get it hosted on www.psxcopyworld.co.uk site or even resurrect/start from scratch my old (old old) site

Yes that is what I was looking for this whole time a walk through would be greatly appreciated for the recordnow program please let me know if any one has one

Record Now comes with a wizard that shows you how to make a 1-to-1 copy of a dvd-r disc. Just use that. 3-4 simple steps and it tells you everything.

ok I did that I was very easy and everything seemed to work but it still won't boot. Here it is step by step, I turn ps2 on with the game shark disk. It loads the disk and shows the list of games. At this point I push the eject button and put gt3 in and push eject again. At this point I pick start game with out codes. Then I wait about 30 seconds and hold eject until it opens replace the disk with my backup and then it closes automatically. now here is were it gets wierd. all the walks I have read says to wait for the light to change colors. mine doesn't it just stops blinking. Then I push x to start game. and I wait, and I wait, and I wait.... What the hell am I doing wrong. I can boot cd back ups fine. so I dont think its the mod chip... please tell me what im doing wrong...

Just use the Wizard, it does it all for you in 3-4 easy steps. No need for Tutorials.
