Help. Can't copy anything protected anymore

Hi there.
This is so weird, I was able to make images with CloneCD from
programs with Safedisc x.xx protection.
but all the sudden, it's doing nothing anymore. The drives spins up
and then stops and then starts reading forever.
This is when I try it with the Burner or DVD player. so both drives.
I reinstalled my Whole Windows after a Format, but that didn't help
either.
I'm totally lost at the moment.
Who can help me out

You have formatted your computer and reinstalled, so you have done the software bit, it may be the devices, maybe they are old or have dust inside.

Does this problems occur with Copies and Originals. In my opinion, when you write the image to cd, is the sessions closed. If close session option on Clone Cd is not ticked then tick it.

If it this doesnt work then come back and tell us or me.

I bought 2 weeks ago a Acer 1208a CDRW, and it was working fine
I was able to make copies from my original game CD's
Now I updated to the latest firmware, because I was burning blanc
CD when I write in Mode2/2352 or Mode1/2352
that didn't fix the problem.
But now I can't make any backup CD with a protection anymore.
I tried the drive in 3 other machines and all the same problem.
This happened after I updated the firmware.
ALSO the firmware screwed my DVD player, because I can't play
anything on that anymore.
So I'm not really impressed with Acer at the moment.
How can I get back my original Firmware ( 9.AB ) since I don't
have that one. I tried 9.DB 9.EB 9.GB .

well , if nothing works , just got a site to get Protection Patchs for ya games , at www.megagames.com and you'll find what ya need to crack to cd's so you are able to cope them .

Well Zell_FF8, think that MrDutchie's problems are a bit more severe than finding a patch for protected games....... ;-)

Yes indeed,
The probleem is that my Writer AND DVD player stops as soon as I wanna use Clone CD, the CD is spinning up, and then it sounds like it's going to 1 speed and getting all the read errors
then it takes me 7 hours to finish 1 CD,
even the Skip Error what I'm always using doesn't work anymore
I tried both drives in 4 different machines, and all the same problem.
so could me that something is damaged in both drives at the same time, and if so, WHAT ??????
but that's not it....
a friend of mine bought the Acer 10x8x32 and is having the same problem all the sudden....
this is making the whole story weird...
I'm so puzzled, and now I found out, that Fireburner is giving errors all the time, with the Init String.
So seems that everything is blowed up.
but Nero is working fine and when I use normal cd's it's working fine
everything with protection (C) is not working.
Acer is telling me to upgrade to the latest firmware.... and even that didn't make a difference.
So any suggestions ???

Hi,

Can´t you go to the store and say that this burner isn´t working. It sounds to me that there´s something wrong with the burner, because your friens bought it too and have also problems with it.

I have this exact problem with all the recent EA games released...... The drive goes on the first few files and it takes forever to read....even longer to write. I went out for a beer and after a few and and an hour ...... I came back in and the drive was only at 5% complete.... CloneCd worked flawlessly with the older games.....

Well, I'm trying to copy the same cd's as a week before on the same burner.
1st 3 copies worked fine, but after 3 :0(

Have to put a regular CD rom in to read those suckers, my 2nd drive a dvd player doesn't read them either.
