Shogun Total War Problem
I have just bought Shogun Total War on Ebay. The two discs are real meaning the person I bought the game from did not lie to me. However, he did not inform me that there is an installation code. When I try to e-mail him about providing the code, he wouldn't answer me. Finally I said if I can't get the code I have no choice but to return the game since I can't play it. I only purchased the game for $7.99 so I know I shouldnt expect much. But he has not replied to me for almost a week. Is there anything that I can do on my side to install the game. I wouldnt mind posting a picture of the two discs taken by my digital camera to show that I do actually have the real games so no one will think I burned a copy something to that nature. Please just let me know how and I will gladly do so. Thank you for anyone's help.

tupandas : While I am reasonably convinced that you speak the truth, fact of the matter is that asking for and giving serial keys is still forbidden here. I take it you have read the rules ? Again, I'm sure you have legitimate cd's, but if you don't have the cd key, you are supposed to contact the publisher and ask for a new key. They should be willing to provide one, probably in exchange for a proof, like a fax of one of the manual pages. Do you have a manual ? If you didn't get a manual either, I'd advise to try to cancel the deal.
ironmad : although I'm sure you just wanted to help someone out, remember that serials are strictly forbidden here, so please don't do it anymore. |

First I'd like to thank Ironmad for being so kind as to provide me with a code.
Second I do apologize for posting the previous message. I have read the rules. I thought that an acception might apply as long as I could provide proof that I did indeed purchase the game. As for the manual, no I did not get that either. I did not get a box, I did not even get the orginal cd case. It was just one of those black back ones with a clear cover. However, atleast now I know that ebay might not be the best place to buy games. If I ever decide to do so again, atleast now I know that with adequate proof, the manufacturer will provide one for me. Again, Thank you Iron Mad for your help. As for posting this message, again I apologize. It will not happen again. Thank you. |

If you check some other threads like this one, you'll see an example of the attitude of some warez users when they invade this board and demand to be served by us. Once again I do believe you, but I still believe it's better to chase it up with the publishers or try to get the deal cancelled. With the cd key that you now got, you will never be able to play online. Anyway, it's up to you what you do now. Have fun with your game, but don't do it again. There are a lot of boards where you will be helped if you want a serial. Just not this one. Thanks for staying mature and polite, unlike SOME people

But do try to think of the rules next time. Oh, and Ebay sucks, I know It's so full of scams and con artists, I never use it. But that's my persnal opinion of course. And if it really is your personal key, then I guess it's really an act of charity

Very dodgy, his first post, and he gives away a CD Key?? he should be banned.
Ban the guy who started the thread as well for good measure, Mr Mod

And I'm trying to keep my (naive) view of humanity alive here. After my encounter with two pretty arrogant specimens of the homo sapiens warezitis in another thread, I'm determined to believe that these two are completely honest

So in other words, you can't really sell or give away any of your own games with a serial, because as soon as you do this you perform a breach of copyright ? I dunno, seems fishy and non-enforcable to me. Lots of publishers make you agree with outrageous EULA's but that doesn't make those EULA's valid, only the parts that are legally enforcable. And I think he's entitled to give his key away to one person, maybe just not publish it so thousands can use it. Anyway, it's all a bit murky to me, and since the offending article is now removed, we'll just leave at that, ok ?
