Fussy Laser will adjusting it help?
O.k I have had a couple of ps2's my first was a version 1 Pal with neo 2.2 , that one seems to like Apple and Verbatim Dvd-rs as well as the cheaper brands, my new one a V7 Pal with magic 2, hates verything except apple or verbatim dvd-r's is it possible to adjust/calibrate the laser to like the less reflective dvd-rs?
I have a heap of titles backed up on the cheaper dvd-r as they use to work fine, now I'm looking at investing in a stack of expensive ones just to get my old games to work on the new machine. any suggestions???

v7s appear to me to be de-adjusted at the factory as a deliberate policy. If you sort of wobble the laser unit, if there is vertical play, then the azimuth needs adjusting (tightening) so as to have the angle of the lens to the disk at optial. If that doesn't produce the result, then a 10% downward calibrationof resistance in the pots could be attempted.

Try burning on verbtaim DVDRW far superior discs ,not cheap but perfect results every time.
I get a simular problem on cheaper dvds and DVDRWS its worth a try rather than trying to adjust your laser
