Ripping Lord of the Rings, got some Ques....

Gonna rip this movie to DVD-R with just the movie only. This DVD comes with 2 discs(disc1 is the movie and disc2 is the extras). Disc1 is around 7.x gigs. I run DVD Decrypter and select 'movie only'. It hilights the files and decrypts them to my VIDEO_TS folder. The guide i was reading says i need to open IFOedit and select VBOextras adn run that which im not sure what it does. Do i have to use IFOedit? or can i burn the VIDEO_TS folder direct to a DVD-R w/o IFOedit? Can Primo burn the VIDEO_TS folder? i hear alot of people have Nero but i dont. thanks for your help

first off u will need to cut out all the shit that comes with a dvd like sound and video options . you can use dvd decripter or smart ripper . use the video stream option and just keep what u want like english ac3 and pal video.
once you have ripped it the film will still be to big to fit on a dvd-r as its over 1h 30 mins so you must re encode it using a lower birate . rempeg 2 is very good at this .
look at the guide on dvd to dvd-r on www.vcdhelp.com.
good luck...................

why would you want to split this film.
i hate doing that. it just wrecks the whole point of making a dvd.
if you use rempeg2 u cant realy tell the difference if its done correctly.
you can get the birate spot on if you use this calculator. just open it up and tell it were your 2 files are .
if you have ripped it correctly you should have a m2v and an ac3 file and nothing else.
it then calculates the 2 files and gives you a perfect scale.

OK if i use DVD Decrypter and select 'movie only', it hilights the important files. It reads them and saves to my VIDEO_TS folder. If i open IFOedit0.94 and open the VIDEO_TS folder then try to click 'play dvd' i get error messages. So should so i select all files inDVD Decrypter and have it send them to the VIDEO_TS folder and then let IFOedit do all the work of ripping out the extras?

Of course i have tried this,but the program freezes at 0 %.It really is my goal to bring down the bitrate to shrink the movie,but i cant get it to work.I use Xp pro,maybe thats the prob.

When u have some spare time and feel like it please take me by the hand and show me how to do it.

Thanks for replying anyway

@rubber2k1

if u run xp,please try to get ifoedit to run as in win2k mode.U have to have software installed for dvdplaybak on ur system.

And just make it a habit to copy also the video_ts.xxx files to ur harddrive and the mainmovie.0.vob.
