Booting DVD Rip games with the knife trick

Hi
I have been booting psx and ps2 games for quite a while using the knife trick. Before recently I would only play psx or ps2 cd backups that were copied.

Today I was trying to boot a few DVD Rip games and I couldnt get any of them to work.

Is it impossible to play dvd rips without a chip?
or do I just need to patch them?

any help would be appreciated,

The size of the rip needs to be under 630mb to boot for you.

Im no big fan of no modders.

i do wanna get my ps2 modded.. i just need to find a place to do it for me cause id cause some major damage with a soldering iron lol

You may wanna post what area you are located in, maybe someone would be willing to take you up on that offer to get it modded.
