Need a good CD-R/RW drive... any tips?

Hey everyone,
I've been backing up some of my games, and most worked ok (but most were older). I'm having trouble with these "protected" games. I use cloneCD 4.0.1.3, and i'm guessing it has to do with my having an old CD-RW drive (which originally came with my 2+ year old Compaq). What should i use for identifying the protection type? Currently i have something called ClonyXXL... but most of this is in German... and i don't speak German.

I've been looking around, and i've been considering a Yamaha 2200 CD-RW drive. This a good idea... or a bad idea?

Thanks for any input!

Clony XXL English

Don't get that cd-writer as it isn't capable of correct EFM coding. Have a look here and look for a drive that has two sheep in the EFM column. Such writers include Lite-ons which are also very cheap.
