Question Dvd Backup Problem

HI
I HAVE BACKED UP A DVD TO MY HARD DRIVE USED DVD2AVI
USED TEMPEG TO CONVERT IT TO MPEG FILE .
MADE A MENU WITH SPRUCE UP AND ADDED THE MPEG FILE AND
COMPILED IT .
SAVED IT AS VOBS TO MY HARD DRIVE
TRYED IT WITH POWER DVD PLAYS OK.
BURNT IT AS DVD VIDEO BUT IT WONT PLAY ON MY STAND ALONE
DVD PLAYER.
BUT I HAVE PLAYED BACKED UP DVDS ON IT BEFORE WHICH WHERE DONE FOR ME BY A FRIEND .
AND I HAVE DONE A COPY OF THESE DVDS AS A COPY AND THEY WORK OK ANY IDEAS AS WHY THEY DONT WORK WHEN I DO IT WITH SPRUCE UP.
THANKS IMAGEMAN.
