Colin McRae Rally 2.0 No CD problem

Hiya. Sorry to bring this subject up again. As with most people, I've tried every crack around to get the CD protection to disappear, but with no success. I have looked through this forum for answers, and followed instructions from VLuka - download the 1.09 patch from CodeMasters, then replace CMR2.exe with the file in VLuka's archive. However, as the game is about to start, it says that I need the CD.

Are there really any cracks or patches out there that will work, or is the game just too stubborn?

Regards,

Chris

Thanks, but...

Thanks for the reply, but it still has the same "Please make sure CMR2 CD is inserted" (or something like that). Why is it the game won't work, do you think?

@ShackW429

just at the moment i´ve reinstalled the game, crk works fine in arcade and rally mode
1. i made a full installation of the game (610mb)
2. patching the game to V1.09
3. change exe file

Hmm...

Sorry! It works! Thanks so much! I tried what you said twice though! Must have got something wrong.

Many thanks,

Chris

OK, now I'm confused... It worked fine just then. I just hit return loads of times (i.e. Rally, Guest User, Ford Focus...) to start a race to see if it worked, and it did. It worked fine. I then changed the graphics details (i.e. higher res, etc), made a new Driver Profile, then tried to start an Arcade game, just to have a go, and sure enough, it said the CD wasn't present. I tried Rally once I'd restarted the program, and that didn't work either. Now the game won't work again. I'm damned if I know what the problem is, especially since it worked beautifully just then.

Regards,

Chris

Hmmm.. this smells of using a 'rip' not an original CD!

I vaguely remember something like this popping up before, the 'rip' had a hi-res 'addon' released and the game gave an 'insert CD' message if you tried to use hi-res graphics and didn't have the hi-res 'addon' installed!

Maybe wrong, but this seems to be the cause!

Sounds like it!

Have you any idea if the 'hi-res add-on' is available for download from anywhere, or should I just give up!

Chris
