Optical cable hookup for PS2....

I bought an optical cable for my PS2. I plan on hooking it to my Digital reciever. IS the optical cable just sound or does it carry video too? Do all PS2 games carry digital sound or just the DVDrom games? thanks

The optical cable is for audio only. The only thing the optical cable does is give you 5.1 surround sound if your receiver and the game or dvd supports it.

Yes my receiver supports dolby digital and DTS. I didnt know how many games are actually in 5.1 sound.

Many game have dolby surround. They are just starting to do a few games in 5.1
