No swap means exactly what it says......You just put the copy in your PS2 and play......
If you have a "Swap chip" you have to go through a PAIN IN THE A$$ boot procedure......Insert gameshark, insert original, put in backup.....THEN MAYBE you can play.....Get the idea.....
As far as putting in a No Swap chip.......YOU DON'T PUT IT IN (Unless you are highly skilled at soldering in VERY SMALL places)
They have 23 wires to be soldered, and take a VERY EXPERIENCED SOLDERER with the right equipment to install....
You can get a no swap chip installed for around 60-70 dollars (US). Of course that is with you supplying the chip....
With a no swap chip you dont have to patch games....

Your thinking about it the wrong way. So what if its $150. Back up 3 games and you have already paid for it. And I'm sure you will be backing up alot more than 3 games.

SURE......Go buy the no solder chip......
No solder chip.....$30.00 rough guess
Gameshark..........$50.00
Original Games w/high TOC $50.00
Total: $130.00

AND you still have a CRAP chip....
Then you will be back on this forum asking how to PATCH games to work and why certain games won't load and all kinds of other S%^T.......

Easiest way to avoid all of this: BUY ALL ORIGINAL GAMES AND DON'T EVEN ATTEMPT TO PLAY BACKUPS......

I didn't read anything wrong....This is what you posted that I was replying too:

You asked if it was any good......I gave you the reason that its a crap chip (in my opinion)
You have to have all of the things I said to boot backups with the no solder mod.....All of that trouble and your only saving 20-30 dollars......

If you want to solder the no swap chip yourself.......GOOD LUCK...
YES....IT can be that HARD...... Some of the points are less than 0.2 mm apart..... The 60 dollars for the install IS WORTH EVERY PENNY......
It takes a pro about 3 hours to install one....
