Yes it is possible.... You can use the knife-swap trick.....
But you will only be able to play backups for a short period of time because you WILL TEAR UP THE PS2 rather quickly....

Invest in a MOD CHIP!

It is well worth the money....

I won't tell you how to use the knife swap because I don't want to be blamed when you tear it up.....
YES, IT IS EXTREMELY RISKY......As far as how long..... It depends, a friend of mine wrecked his the 2nd time he did it.....
If you want to find out how to do it.....Use the search button on the forum...The method has been posted before....

Yeah..... He cried to me for about 2 weeks because he wanted to play backups and didn't want to buy a mod chip.....So I finally told him and then he broke it.......
But hes ok now....He got a Messiah......Although it still pisses him off that he broke his other PS2......

The only swap trick i've seen without a ar2 or modchip involves taking the whole thing apart, and lifting off the game and putting the backup on. This was when the PS2 first came out. I used to do the knife swap trick. My PS2 lasted for about 9 mo. I didn't use a knife per say, i used a credit card. I'm not stupid enough to stick sharp objects into $300 worth or electronics. That was only until my PS2 broke. I was trying to power up my laser(everything was taking forever to load) and it just stoped working. I'm going to be investing in a modchip around Christmas. It's going to be my x-mas present to myself. Plus the warranty on the PS2 just runs out on the 26th.

If your bold enough to try the knife swap trick then you will have no problem fitting the no solder mod!

Maybe not the best chip but a thousand times better than messing with your console in that manner.

No, it isnt, You must have a GS2 or AR2 to play backups using the knife method. Buy a modchip, save your PS2!

dont bother buying a no solder mod either, you still have to use ar2 and it only plays cdr backup that are under 650mb, and out of the 220 backups i have about 12 of them are under 650mb, the people who sell them dont usually tell you this though. get a messiah its well worth the loot

Does anybody want a copy (as evidence) of 7 Blades? This cdr is 720mb and works flawlessly with no solder mods! I have 150 ps2 cdr that boot with no solder mods!

Dont believe evrything you read? It depends on who rips the original!

WHAT SIZE CDR ARE YOU USING TO GET 720MB ONTO IT. I WOULDNT MIND A COPY OF THAT COS MY 7 BLADES HAS 2 DISCS EACH DISC BEING AROUND 650MB BIG. SO THIS ASKS THE QUESTION ARE THE GAMES YOU HAVE THAT YOUR NO SOLDER CHIP IS BOOTING, THE FULL GAMES OR HAVE THEY BEEN SEVERLY RIPPED. HMMMMM

If such games boot with the no solder mod then they'll probably crap out when an address larger than 631MB is requested.

7 Blades has successfully copied onto datasafe (white) 40x 80 min cdr and techno 80 min (730mb) discs. This game works perfectly with the no solder mod! Copy Protection Detection 0.6 reads the total disc time at 72:5:39

All my ps2 games are written on 80 min cdr. Either datasafe, bulkpaq, white label or more recently Techno media.

I have 150+ games that work flawlessly with no solder (v4 & v5) mods, rgb scart lead and ar2.2.

Email your address Charlie & I will send you a copy of the disc (free). I buy the games ripped (cheaper than I could make them myself) so I'm sorry I cant tell you the technique.

Bigger games boot using the double swap technique with a dvd original.

But hey, I can fit magic chips now (thanx 2 Charlie) so does anybody wanna buy no solder mods with a load of compatible games?
