Format Disc for PS2

I got the ps2 working now thanks Bg. I put in a ps2 games and it reads it as NO DATA its asking me for my format disk, I never got the instructions on how to play the games. I thought i would have gotten it but didnt. I thought you dont have to use a format disc of any sort since its a messiah modchip. What do i need to do to play the games when it says format disc needed? thanks

To boot a PS2 original import or backup import (which is what your usa games would be since you are playing on a PAL PS2):
Turn on PS2..Press eject...Put in game....Press eject to close tray.... Press reset once...The game will boot...
To boot a PS1 original or backup import: Follow the above procedure EXCEPT instead of pressing reset once....Press it quickly TWICE..... The games will boot...

I think he needs to clean his lens or repair something that happened in transit.

What happens with an original PAL game disk?
