most dreamcasts can get this problem....

usually the dc picks up too much must on the inner fan and overheats causing the dreamcast to rest

now off mind (not 100% certain) remove the modem from the dc, remove the screws from the bottom of the dreamcast and take off the top

keep the front of the dc facing you (control ponts pointing towards you) and unscrew the power unit near the top left, now look for a small white rectangle, now gently clean it with a small piece of wd40, just a pinch

now to prevent it happening again just gently aply some pressure against it, not bending it...

put your dc back together and just by magic it will play as new

i'm not 100% if it will work but just go to google and search for "dreamcast reseting problem" for a better guide
