General Securom new question

Ok I'v read around and it's still not clear to me.

For the new Securom, the problem is that 'If you don't have hardware being able to read & write the 16 byte PQ subchannel data -non Raw 96- ' you are toast

One way around is to burn a 1:1 copy and use Daemon tools to emulate the missing securom
-or-
To image the original onto the HD and using Daemon tools mount it to a virtual drive and install and run it from there.

My question is how does the second solution bypass the security check? Curious as I'm having trouble burning a working backup (although I have raw 96) and the virtual drive solution doesn't work for me either although it sounds like it should bypass any drive problems.

Thanks
Pete.

you must enable securom emulation when using an image from the hard drive in this manner, unless you made a perfect image, in which case it plays as normally

That's what I would think but according to the Daemon help it's not the case

"Another option to get Securom protected games to run is to create a CD image, mount that image with DAEMON Tools' STEALTH DVDROM and install and play from there.
The Securom emulation is normally NOT needed in this case.
"

Maybe it's talking about a 1:1 perfect image. That's what got me wondering.

Thanks
Pete.

If you have a perfect 1:1 image on your HD you dont need SecuROM emulation. However, if your image is, for whatever reason, not perfect you need to enable SecuROM emulation and pray that they haven't blacklisted the latest version of DAEMON Tools yet.
