Getting into the scene.

Generic question, prolly should be posted somewhere else, but since I'm getting the modded PS2, figure I'll post it here.

With the A04 ( the drive I'll be getting ) how long does it take to rip a DVD game? Then how long to burn it?

Has the Princo stuff been sorted out? I think I found a good deal on a 90pk of Princo's, but I'm not sure they are Princo's.

Here's the link : http://www.directshoponline.com/Merc...ory_Code=DVD-R

Any newb advice I should know before I convert from PSX to PS2?

looks like legacy brand ta me...

seems prity obvious thats whats on the lable.

unsure if legacy are from the same factory as princo.
check with cdmediaworld i rememebr you could check what factory specific brands of cd-r came from they may cover dvd-r by now.

Well, I ask because below it mentions Taiwan Princo and a bunch of stats on the discs including reflectivity around 70% ( which is supposed to be pretty good, I think? )

Hi TheMasterRat - sounds like you have some PSX experience so you should be alright.

You might want to check out www.psxcopyworld.co.uk tutorials section for Primo and Nero DVD tutorials.

DVD to HD takes about 1/2 hour ish (I dont sit there and time it normally), then the burn takes around 40-60 minutes depending on game size.

If you are in the UK then forget about Princos and go for Traxdata DVD-R from either www.bigpockets.co.uk or www.121cdr.co.uk a few of us on here use that brand with 100% success.

Post back if you have any more questions.

Also, I beleive Dust reported on this awhile back..... Princo DVD-R's were never a problem with the A04...... It was there CD-R's that the A04 would not recognize.... I don't know if they got it sorted out or not.... Maybe Dust will post LATER........

I do not know but have herd Taiwan cds suk big time. I would never purchase a cd pak with MADE IN TAIWAN ON IT> i once purchased memorex cd-rs for burning movies...i bought the 100 pak since the 50 pak i bought before were great! But the difference was the one before was made in japan and were tum yunds or something and the made in taiwan made chirpping sounds and the quality just sux man!

I would recommend memorex made in japan, fujifilm, or TDK.
Game wise i do not know..but would like to know.
Does soemone know if memorex would be good if i wanna burn games onto cd-rs??

CD-R's are not that big of a deal on the PS2.....The PS2 doesn't seem to be as picky about the cd based media... They are FAR easier to read than a DVD-R, so you don't have to have the finest CD-R's.....

DVD-R on the other hand is a entirely different story.... Some PS2's will boot a certain brand, others will not.... Since DVD-R is harder to read than CD-R's, the conditon of your laser is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.... Some people can get away with using cheap quality DVD-R's.... Others can only use the best quality media in their PS2's.....

FINALLY!!! Some information about it

Dear valued customer,

thank you for contacting Lik-Sang.com, your specialist for finest videogames and accessories.

First of all we would like to apologize for the delay with the premodded PS2 systems and thank you for your patience.

We have now received confirmation from our installers that the PS2 systems (USA as well as PAL) are back in stock. They have modified a sufficient amount of Playstations and the testing took longer then expected.

Starting from now on, shipping times should go back to normal and news will be posted on our web sites regarding the status in the future.

In order to ensure a best possible experience and also maintain a high quality level, we have included the installers test report which doesn't only show the serial number of your PS2 unit, but also some details of the tested media types.

Please understand that we can't offer any customized modifications and installations, apart from our two systems which you can find below.

I'm not concerned about CD-Rs...

Looking for DVD-R's that are good quality/good buy in the US.

Any ideas?
