I found the file mentioned above in my Windows-folder (Win98SE).
No clue from where it comes, but I suspect the newer SD2 version (2.60.xx). It re-appears when deleted. Any1 knows more?

any clues on what it's doing at all? thats freaky, that those bastards are installing things like that. i'd love to play with it, and find what its doing, but i dont have any recent discs

hmmm. sd2 now using virtual device drivers.
It's obviously part of the safedisc routine, but what for? Maybe an attempt to speed up the sd2 loader, or another attempt to complicate the apps routines to slow down reversing. Either way, has it made any difference to crack production? Nope.
