Problem with GTA3 v1.1 on WinXP Pro

Help!

The texts are not readable, it just appear as plain color squares. It happen to both the menu and in-game text messages.

I tried looking for fix with similar problems in Rockstar Games web site, didn't find any help from there.

GTA3 w/ v1.1 patch
WinXP Pro
AthlonXP 1900+, Gigabyte GA-7VRX w/ KingMax 256MB PC2700
Ennyah GeForce4 MX-440 with 64MB DDR

2 ways to find the answer - press the search button as it's been answered many times
or read the readme.txt of the game.

The answer: run windows update and download the Computer Resuming from Standby Update (or something similar), and everything wil be fine.

Ok thanks. I downloaded the fix from Microsoft you mentioned and it's now working right.

So this is a known issue.
