Backup scratched disk

I recentley had to re-format my HD and reload everything back on. When I Windows was installing I had numerous errors about the CD. I took it out and looked at the bottom which was very scratched. Is there any program that can identify and bad CD and then make a working copy of it?

A different cd rom drive might be able to read your scratched cd. Ask a friend who has a cd writer to try to make a working copy of your disc.

If the disc is lightly scratches although a lot it is no problem, just get some white toothpaste (really I'm not taking the p**s) rub a reasonable amount over the reading side of the disc untill all gone, try it again you'll be surprised :-)

Also you can use waxing compound that you use on car paint surfaces. Rub on/wipe off, just like on the karate kid movies. it works too!
